Central Ohio Counseling - a leading provider in mental healthcare.

Our Providers

COC currently has 7 psychiatrists, 2 psychiatric nurse practitioners and 3 licensed therapists on staff. We feel it is therapeutically beneficial for our clients to have access to both types of providers in one office. Below is a brief biography of each of the providers at COC along with their licensure information. At COC we treat children, adolescents and adults.

Valerie Del Medico, MD

Dr. Del Medico graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Biology. She attended The Ohio State University where she received her medical degree and she is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Del Medico was a consulting psychiatrist for North Community Counseling Centers from 1990-2000, she then served as the Medical Director from 2000-2010 before joining Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. Her specialties include mood disorders, seasonal affective disorders, attention deficit disorder, and nutritional factors in mental health. Dr. Del Medico is not

accepting new clients.

Sheila Tano, MD

Dr. Tano currently treats patients at COC, as well as, Access Ohio Mental Health Center and Maryhaven. She graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Dr. Tano received her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  Dr. Tano is not accepting new clients.
 

Ximena Prieto Hicks, MD

Dr. Prieto Hicks received her medical degree from National University of Cordoba, School of Medicine in Argentina. She then went on to complete her psychiatric residency at the University of Arizona. She came to Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. from Lower Lights Christian Health Center in Columbus. Dr. Prieto Hicks is our only Spanish speaking physician. She specializes in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.  Dr. Prieto Hicks is not accepting new clients.

Edan Gilat, MD

Dr. Gilat has been with Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. since February 2016. Originally from Central Ohio, Dr. Gilat completed his Bachelors of Science in Psychology at The Ohio State University in 2005 after which he worked as a case manager at SouthEast Recovery. He then went on to earn his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Gilat completed his psychiatric residency training at Baystate Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is well versed in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Areas of interest include treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, anxiety disorders, as well as, ADHD.  Dr. Gilat is certified to treat patients with PTSD using medical marijuana. Dr. Gilat is not accepting new clients.

Suseela Nallurri, MD

Dr. Nalluri joined Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. in July 2017.  Dr. Nalluri received her medical education at Nagarjuna University in India.  She is Board Certified from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  She served as a staff psychiatrist for Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, OH for 18 years. Dr. Nalluri also treats patients at Maryhaven where she is working with addiction disorders.  Dr. Nalluri accepts adult clients.

Vinutha Reddy, MD

Dr. Reddy joined Central Ohio Counseling, inc. in July 2017.  She received her education at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India and completed her residency at Connecticut Valley Hospital, Middletown Connecticut.  Prior to joining our practice Dr. Reddy served our veterans for 17 years at the Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic in Grove City, OH.  Dr. Reddy is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.  In addition to working at our practice she also treats patients at Access Ohio and Maryhaven.

Dr. Reddy is not accepting new clients.

Meriam Salama, MD

Dr. Salama received her education from Cairo Universiy School of Medicine, Egypt and completed her residency at Dar El Mokattum for Mental Health in Cairo, Egypt.  Dr. Salama did clinical research at The Ohio State University, where she also served as a staff instructor for the Residency Program.  She joined Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. in July 2017 after treating patients at North Community Counseling for a number of years.  Dr. Salama is not accepting new clients.

Kathleen Cadmus, APN, CNS

Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The Ohio State University. After working as an RN, Kathleen returned to OSU for her Master of Science degree in Nursing in 1999. Kathleen is a Certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Adult Nurse Practitioner (primary care). In 2016, she completed her MFA in Creative Writing from Ashland University and is a published author.

Kathleen is accepting patients for psychotherapy or medication management. Areas of expertise are anxiety and mood disorders. Kathleen has an interest in working with adults or teens living with a concurrent medical diagnosis or who have experienced grief or trauma and want to be an active participant in their care.

Evan Silverland, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Evan graduated from Indiana University with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology before pursuing his lifelong dream of moving to Colorado and teaching snowboarding in Breckenridge. He then went on to pursue his Masters degree in Nursing at The Ohio State University and is board certified in psychiatry and mental health. Upon graduation Evan began working at Boundless Health, treating individuals with a wide-range of psychiatric illness, including a large population with co-occurring Autism and developmental disorders. His areas of interest are depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and ADHD. He enjoys working with people of all ages, including children & adolescents.

Irmina Light, LISW-S

Irmina received her Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with supervisory designation and is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has been in practice for 22 years, the last 6 at Central Ohio Counseling, Inc. Irmina served as the Clinical Director at North Community Counseling Centers for 12 years. Her areas of interest are psychotic disorders, anxiety and mood disorders. Irmina accepts adult clients.

Theodore Shannon, LPCC

Theo has earned multiple degrees over the years. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Malone College in Canton, Ohio, his Master of Art degree and his PhD from The Ohio State University and then went on to receive a Master of Science degree from the University of Dayton. He also has a Certificate of Completion from Cleveland Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Theo has practiced at Maryhaven and Berea Family Services before joining us at COC. His areas of interest are general mental health, career planning and substance abuse.  Theo accepts adult clients.

Julie Herron, LPCC-S

Julie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University and her Masters in Counselor Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has 24 years of clinical practice and client advocacy. Julie’s areas of interest are mood disorders, trauma recovery, relationship issues, LGBT affirmative, HIV/AIDS, grief and loss.  Julie accepts adult clients.
